French with Turnbacks

These arrived in the post yesterday from Richard, along with the Prussians and have gone off to Griffin Moulds today for master moulding.

As you can see they are wearing the newer uniform than my original French infantry and have turnbacks on the coats. We have gone for a different drummer pose, a different officer pose and a new mounted Colonel to accompany the original one.

As this was such a regimented period, we haven't been able to deviate with the standard marching pose for the Fusilier, N.C.O. etc, as if they deviated from the norm they would have been flogged half to death.

Some people criticise the posing of my range, but I think they cannot understand that this was the most drilled period in military history and troops did not march with hats cocked to one side, or wave them in the air as they marched. This was the period where soldiers were virtual automatons and every step was choreographed by vicious drill masters.

Anyway, enough of that, I hope you like what we (well Richard) have done with them.

Magnific Frenchmen.
I am the "first fan" of your very well focused work for that Age.

As with the Pussians; Congratulations!

One can never have enough French!

Very much looking forward to these, and even more so to the new Prussians - even if I have to reconsider all my force planning now...
